US~Observer is a privately owned investigative reports and commentary publication which currently has subscribers in all 50 states and several foreign countries. The US~Observer has been in publication since 1991. It has successfully beaten thousands of criminal charges and/or civil claims where individuals had been wronged by the “justice system” or another party. The US~Observer has also recouped millions of investment dollars for those who were duped or scammed out of their hard-earned money.

When hired, the US~Observer works for your vindication. What does that mean? Simply, if you have been charged with crimes, been maliciously attacked in court civilly, or been abused or cheated by someone, the US~Observer will investigate your case to achieve the evidence that will be used to prove your factual innocence, determine your lack of liability or the liability of someone who has harmed you, or track down the dollars to make you whole. With that evidence in hand, we ensure everyone who needs to see it does.

The power of public opinion, is what will ultimately vindicate you. This is what we cultivate when promoting your case through our nationally distributed paper and our network of online affiliates, making the facts of your case public knowledge. This is something attorneys are barred from doing. Bottom line, this tactic puts an amazing amount of public pressure on those in political positions. Often, publication is not even necessary. Our methods have been proven to work.

The fact is, when it comes to false prosecution, attorneys alone are not effective. In many instances, the odds are so stacked against them the only recourse they have is to suggest a plea deal. It’s not all their fault either! The system allows for the prosecution to publicize your case. The local paper runs your picture, and soon your neighbors think you are guilty. The US~Observer combats this one-sided assault and gives you the only real chance you have at vindication – the publishing of the facts is your case.

If you are in trouble, don’t roll the dice with just an attorney. The US~Observer will work for you.
And just in case you are wondering, there are many instances where our clients never even needed to hire an attorney in the first place. Check out our references.

The History of the U.S. Observer

The U.S. Observer was founded in 1991 by Edward Snook, who established the newspaper as a platform for fearless investigative journalism aimed at exposing corruption and defending those unjustly targeted by legal systems. Snook’s leadership was marked by a commitment to uncovering truth through meticulous evidence-gathering, with one of his most significant achievements being the overturning of false murder charges against an individual named Faire. This landmark case in U.S. District Court in Spokane, Washington, saw Snook successfully challenge prosecutorial immunity, transforming a murder charge into a civil settlement for Faire—a rare and monumental victory that cemented the newspaper’s reputation for dismantling corrupt practices and securing justice.

The U.S. Observer’s mission evolved under the leadership of Michael Quiel, who became CEO, bringing with him 35 years of investment banking experience and a personal understanding of systemic injustice. Having faced wrongful charges himself, Quiel documented his experiences in his book Rigged and achieved a notable victory against the Department of Justice in 2024. His expertise has driven the newspaper to expand its focus, particularly into exposing financial fraud, such as naked short selling, a practice that manipulates markets by flooding them with unowned shares, harming companies and investors. Despite regulatory bans, this issue persists, and Quiel’s leadership has positioned the U.S. Observer to confront it head-on.

Today, the newspaper upholds its founding mission of advocating for the wrongfully accused while tackling financial misconduct. It supports issuers neglected by regulators, challenges agencies like the SEC and DOJ for failing to protect shareholders, and exposes brokers and compliance officers who enable market manipulations. A cornerstone of its work is a proprietary system that identifies illegal short positions by analyzing market discrepancies, forcing corrections to restore fairness. The U.S. Observer also amplifies legal action against fraudsters, demands accountability from regulators, and uses evidence-driven reporting to ensure transparency.

From Snook’s groundbreaking work in Spokane to Quiel’s fight against financial and legal corruption, the U.S. Observer remains a powerful force for truth and accountability, ensuring justice prevails.

Our Mission: Exposing the Shadows of Financial Fraud

Our primary mission remains unchanged: to represent the wrongfully accused—civilians facing unjust civil and criminal charges—through relentless advocacy and investigative work that uncovers evidence to exonerate the innocent and dismantle corrupt systems. Inspired by the US~Observer’s fearless pursuit of truth since 1991, we expose the illicit networks behind naked short selling—the fraudulent sale of unowned, unborrowed shares that flood markets with phantom stock, manipulate prices, bankrupt companies, and defraud investors. Despite being banned post-2008, this practice persists through regulatory loopholes, costing the public trillions.

In addition, we represent issuers who are underserved and unsupported by the regulatory system, providing them with the tools and advocacy needed to navigate and challenge these failures. We also confront the three-letter alphabet agencies—SEC and DOJ—whose lack of acknowledgment and protection for individual shareholders perpetuates injustice, ignoring the voices of everyday investors victimized by market manipulations.

We target rogue brokers who enable these schemes, complicit compliance officers who shirk their oaths, and agencies like the SEC and DOJ that fail to enforce accountability. From the SEC’s lax oversight of threshold securities to the DOJ’s inaction on hedge fund fraud, systemic failures protect the guilty.

Central to our mission is the USO Arbiter system—a powerful tool to detect and eliminate naked short positions. By analyzing arbitrage opportunities between market prices and net asset values in targeted securities, we uncover discrepancies signaling failures-to-deliver and phantom shares. This forces brokers to unwind illegal shorts, restoring market integrity through data-driven transparency.

We amplify civil and class action lawsuits against brokers, challenge SEC exemptions for market makers, and demand DOJ probes into prosecutorial misconduct. Our investigative reporting—backed by documents, whistleblowers, and data—compels the SEC to enforce Reg SHO, the DOJ to prosecute enablers, and prosecutors to uphold justice. Through relentless pursuit of truth, we right wrongs and ensure accountability. No shadows. No impunity. The truth prevails.

Our Four Areas of Expertise

  1. Wrongfully Accused (Civil and Criminal Charges)
We defend individuals and entities unjustly targeted by overzealous or corrupt prosecutors. Leveraging meticulous investigations, we uncover evidence to overturn wrongful convictions and dismiss baseless civil charges, ensuring justice for the innocent.

  2. Naked Short Selling
Using our proprietary USO Arbiter system, we identify and expose naked short selling schemes that manipulate markets. By revealing failures-to-deliver and phantom shares, we hold brokers and compliance officers accountable and force market corrections.

  3. Class Action Lawsuits
We empower victims of financial fraud by supporting and amplifying class action lawsuits. Our evidence-gathering fuels litigation against brokers, hedge funds, and regulators, securing restitution and systemic reform.

  4. Reputational Management
We restore the reputations of those smeared by false accusations or market manipulations. Through strategic investigations and public advocacy, we counter defamatory narratives with irrefutable facts, rebuilding trust and credibility.
